Surrender vs Giving up
Surrender allows one to move into greater understanding of a situation. Surrender is empowering because it is an action, whereas giving up is refusal to take action. Surrender brings with it a peacefulness which is the opposite of the despair that comes with giving up.

I was asked recently HOW one would begin to accept who we are when it is so difficult
acceping what we see ourselves to be now.
Let me make a metaphor to use as an example. If we were to decide to make a loaf of bread we would gather together all the necessary ingredients, measure out the amounts of this and that and put it all together to mix the dough. Then we begin stirring and mixing. Next there is the time that we let it sit quietly doing its necessary step of transforming and rising. After a period of time we take the dough in hand and knead it and work it again so that the gluten changes form and the bread begins to take on the qualities to make really good bread. and we let it rise a final time. And finally we put it in the ovens to bake it. All of these steps are necessary before we have what we consider to be a loaf of bread.
At any step along the way the dough is being exactly what it is supposed to be at that step. It is not bad because it is not the ingredients in their pure basic form as they were when selected for this loaf, nor is it bad when it is just a lump of dough sitting quietly during the rising period. When it is put in the ovens to go through the fires of its existence it somehow almost magically changes the forms of its contents into the wonderful smelling, nurturing beautiful loaf of bread that it is. And the fire is as necessary to its existence as the stirring and the mixing.
Each step along the way all of the ingredients have the potential for that loaf of bread that it is to be. And every single ingredient is necessary and right. Each step is also necessary and right for where the bread is in the overall process. We would not judge any place along the way as being wrong or not good enough just because it was not already completed in its ultimate wonderful form.
In the same way, if we could look at ourselves and see that we are somewhere in the process of manifested existence. We decided that we wanted to have the experience of manifestation on this fascinating planet, Earth. We chose the necessary ingredients for this particular expression of being , this personality through which we would express, and stirred them all together. Then we came into form as a human being. Each step along the way is a part of the process.
There is nothing to judge wrong in the baby who can not yet walk. It certainly is the desire of that baby to do so, but until it does we still love it just as it is. It is the desire of the teenager to spread his/her wings and be independent, to be the powerful, strong, successful person they see themselves wanting to be. Again many mis-steps are taken before the young person learns and understands how to use their talents and gifts, which are a part of the ingredients selected and brought with them before they entered into this form. They are not wrong to stretch their wings, even though they sometimes bump against each other and society in the process. All of that is a part of learning how to use their tools, their creativity, their imagination, their joyful expressions, their emotions - all of it. And through all of it they are an expression of the Creator as the loaf of bread is an expression of our creativity.
The challenge for us, as I see it, is to accept and love ourselves exactly where we are in our expression of being at this moment - to drop our judgments of ourselves and others as not being the perfect finished product, perfect in every way, and understand that it is all a part of the process - and to LOVE the process - and to love the raw materials, and to love each step. When we see that a little more salt is needed in the mix, or a little sweetener we dont scold the loaf or think badly of it, or hate it for not having it, we simply add it. In the same way for ourselves when we see that we would like to be more... whatever it is... lets say compassionate, we set about adding or developing that quality.
We can love ourselves for being who we are this moment, this tiny little point of time/space. As we stand quietly poised within this moment and expand our vision in an ever increasing sphere of awareness we begin to encompass the greater vision of who and what we truly are, a part of all Creation. We begin to see the beautiful dance or symphony of the creation and know ourselves to be the note we are here to express. As our vision becomes more and more tangible we understand more clearly how we would sound our note to make the music of it all more harmonious and beautiful and we adjust our expression to that end. Without our unique note the symphony would not be complete.
Love is the answer. Allow yourself to be exactly who and what your are this moment and love that even as you love the little child who is just learning to walk and talk.. As you do you will discovr and become the most beautiful expression of Being that you can imagine. Make whatever adjustments along the way that you want to make without judging yourself to be wrong or bad at that point. In expanding the vision one sees that all of it is necessary and beautiful in its own way. If the Creator, Father/Mother/God/Source can look at us and love us as we are in this moment, knowing all that we truly are in our vaster being, then the least we can do is to emulate That and to love ourselves and be more gentle, kind and accepting with ourselves.
Peace.

Recently while dancing around the web I came across this question.
"I was wondering if anyone has any advise on,being the person you want to be,not who you i am now.And anything on motivation,I am becoming a big time slacker, neglecting a lot of responsibility"
Although the question was not asked of me, I wanted to respond to it as my heart was touched.
In today's world we are all so busy trying to be something other than what we are. This may be fine when it is prompted by a stirring from the deep slumbers in which we have been for eons of time, but there is another more important aspect to the question. That is that we do not love ourselves! We are so quick to judge ourselves and everyone else and to see ourselves as not good enough, not wise enough, as slackers and so on for one reason or another. We see ourselves in the most negative light, see every little blemish and flaw, and think badly of ourselves! If we could just take another look and know that we are, in fact, truly children of God, brought forth in absolute love and wonder! We are unfolding, growing and learning, and we are in exactly in the right place and time to do this. We forget now that we agreed to come here and that we chose this "Earth Experience" in order to understand manifested being. As we see ourselves in all the glorious light and beauty that is our true Self, when we begin to understand who we are, we change our behavior to reflect that inner vision. As we start loving ourselves as our Creator Father/Mother/Source loves us, the change is automatic. It cannot be otherwise. The important thing, as I see it, is to accept and love ourselves this moment... exactly as we are, not judging or condemning, to live fully in this present moment and to experience NOW as fully and completely as we can possibly allow ourselves to do. There is only NOW and in this now is contained the completeness and fullness of ALL that IS..

As we learn to listen to that still small voice we will be led to where our work and recognition and compensation are to be found. We manifest as individual Consciousness; therefore all that is necessary to our fulfillment is included in the infinite Consciousness which we are. In an individual way, God is expressing Itself as you, and your ability is really the ability of God: your activity is actually the activity of Consciousness, Life. Gain this consciousness of God's presence and you have the whole secret of success in every walk of life. Always remember that God, your individual Consciousness, has prepared for you all that is necessary for the fulfillment of your individual experience. You are never outside the harmony or the love of God's being. Cultivate the awareness of God every moment.

Imagery has been defined as thinking without words. "Imagery" is often used synonymously with "visualization", but there are differences. Although both involve "wordless pictures" in the mind, visualization is used to imply deliberately constructed wordless thoughts directed toward a desired goal. Both work. It is important to utilize that which intuitively feels best. Highly specific, goal directed prayers seem unnatural, even arrogant, to some people who may feel it isn't proper to "tell God what to do." Others prefer an aggressive, robust, "make it happen" approach that involves highly specific and goal-directed prayers and visualizations. Personality factors are certainly involved in these preferences and these personality traits are extremely resistant to change. They tend to be stable across a lifetime. Everyone has heard of dramatic examples of healing in which highly specific, directed strategies were used quite successfully in imagery or visualization and prayer. We would be foolish to ignore them. There is a great deal of solid scientific evidence that directed, highly specific imagery and/or visualization can bring about seemingly m miraculous change. It has been suggested that if prayer (and imagery / visualization) were a new discovery like a new drug on the market, it would be on the front pages of every newspaper and television special in the world because the results can be so spectacular. But because it is just prayer, we continue to take it for granted and look for something else that will work.
